What’s more frightening than a ghost or Frankenstein? How about that extra weight you could put on by snacking on all that Halloween candy? Below you’ll find some tips for keeping you and your little ones healthy this Halloween:

Move Around – Halloween is the perfect excuse for a long walk around the neighborhood… not that an excuse is every necessary! Take a walk around the block and say hi to the neighbors, all while enjoying the crazy costumes.

Eat Well – This is a tough one, with all the Halloween candy going around, but we got some good, quick tips to help you keep those cravings under control:

  • Eat before going out – Have a healthy meal before you take the kids out trick or treating or you go to that Halloween party and have those drinks. This can help reduce the temptation to snack, keeping your stomach full.
  • Choose a smaller bag – If you’re taking your children out trick-or-treating, a smaller candy bag can help you minimize the amount of temptation. The more candy laying around, the more likely you are to consume it!
  • Check expiration dates – Throw out any candy you receive that is expired or with any openings in the packaging. This can help eliminate some of the candy, especially the ones that could make you sick.

Sleep Well – Halloween can lead to late nights, but it is important to get your 7-8 hours of sleep to stay healthy and rested. Lack of sleep has been proven to be linked to heart disease and obesity.
